sonic belt tension meters

(OP)
Has anyone had dealings with using a sonic belt tension meter. We recently purchased one from Gates and are having difficulty getting it to work. It picks up resonant sound or magnetic waves from the belt, depending on the sensor used, then takes into account the weight and length of the belt and mathematically calculates belt tension. We have both types of sensors, mic and induction type. The induction type is for use in high noise or windy areas.  Are there any does or don'ts, useful hints ,any info at all, that someone would like to share as how to get this "high tech" device to work. We can't seem to do so.
Thanking all in advance for your input,
Regards,
MICJK
