Holes in curved surfaces
Holes in curved surfaces
(OP)
I've encountered a few problems on Solid Edge st4.
I can't make protrusion cutouts or holes in curved surfaces. Example: I create a cylinder and I want to make holes in it. But not on planar tops rather in curved surface that generates it. This is a simple example, but if I want create a revolved object with a curved generator, like a bottle or something, and want to create holes in it.
How can I create more complex extruded objects with a 3D path or axis and with different profiles within? I think that's something that combines swept and lofted protrusions.

I can't help you with this question unless you do in NX.
A general reply to what i guess is going on is that when extruding 3D curved profiles , the cad system do not/ cannot automatically "understand" the shape inside the 3d profile. ( i.e the starting face) In NX the result will therefore be a extruded sheet body and not a solid body.
