Gentlemen being structural engineers you may not be that close to compressor engineering, but the question is related to civil/structural engineering:
figures 1.3-1 to 4 are four methods of mounting cen. compressors and associated equipment such as gear-boxes and electric motor drivers
two questions
1. what actually is the difference in these four methods structurally?
2. which, in your opinion, is the correct one to mount a 10,000 HP centrifugal compressorat at 8000 RPM with a gear-box and electric motor driver?
thank you
Aamir

As a side note, the sketches indicate a kind of old fashioned bolt-in-a-sleeve detail which has limited adjustability. It also poses difficulty when lowering the equipment over the bolts. I prefer a Deco (http://www.decomfg.com/media/deco-heavy-duty-adjus...) bolt, but that's just me.
