Combine Solid and Extracted Body

Combine Solid and Extracted Body

Combine Solid and Extracted Body

(OP)
Hello !

My question is whether there is any way how to combine solid from extrude, and extracted body from sew of two pieces of closed sheet ?I try function "Unite" , but i can't select the body created by "extract geometry". Any ideas ?

RE: Combine Solid and Extracted Body

Could you provide at least a picture of the model, if not the model itself?

RE: Combine Solid and Extracted Body

The body from extracted geometry is probably still a sheet body.
You cannot unite solid and sheet bodies.

Place the cursor on top of the body from extracted geometry, then wait for the quick-pick three dots to appear, then select and in the quick pick dialog scroll down to the bottom and note if it is a sheet or solid body.

When you sew sheets, if they are watertight within the tolerance and logically possible to convert into a solid, the result will become a solid body, else NX sews a sheet body.

Tomas

RE: Combine Solid and Extracted Body

While it is true that you cannot join Solid and Sheet bodies using the normal Boolean -> Unite function, if the bodies are created so that they match/adjoin properly (which is why I wanted to see at least a picture of the model) they CAN be combined into a single Solid body using the 'Patch' function.

And there's even a special situation where you might even be able to 'Sew' a Sheet body and a Solid body together.
