Monorail beam design

Monorail beam design

Monorail beam design

(OP)
Hi experts,

My boss just gave me a job to design for 5 tonne and 16 tonne monorail beams. I need to find the transverse distance centre to centre of wheels of the hoist for bottom flange bending check, but I couldn't find any information for that on the Internet.

I assumed the loads act at the edge of the bottom flange for conservative, but my boss asked me for an optimised solution.

Any suggestion for that distance of the hoists for 5 tonne and 16 tonne monorail beam? or thickness of the wheels should be fine.

Cheers,

RE: Monorail beam design

1/2" is generally where the wheels are on the bottom flange.

Look up the hoist or trolley you intend to use....information is numerous places on the web.
