How much room do I need for stress cone terminations?
I have 5kV gear that was modified for top entry by adding a 12” deep rear extension. Now that I have the busses there and facing upwards, I am wondering if that is enough space for stress cone terminations since the cables coming in are shielded or if I need to have a “top-hat” added to the gear.

I should mention I have 12-750kcmil (MCM) copper conductors (4 per phase)

RE: Stress Cones Termoinations

Are you talking about stress cones or termination kits? We have been using cold-shrink termination kits with stress control already built-in. Check out the 3M web site, the popular brand is QT-III if I remember right. They have dimensions right on the cut sheets based on your application.

"Throughout space there is energy. Is this energy static or kinetic! If static our hopes are in vain; if kinetic — and this we know it is, for certain — then it is a mere question of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheelwork of nature". – Nikola Tesla
