Unneeded lines visible in modeling and drafting

Unneeded lines visible in modeling and drafting

Unneeded lines visible in modeling and drafting

Greetings all!

If the model is large enough, and some parts are thin enough in comparision, many lines that should be invisible are actually visible on the model. As an example I attached screenshots of a model of a railway carriage. It has beams and thin plating. If I zoom out, it looks as if the plating is translucent. Only if I zoom in close enough, the lines disappear. Worse still, this behaviour is largely duplicated in drafting. I attached the screenshot of a drafting sheet as well with inneeded lines which should not be visible by default. Is it possible to get rid of this behaviour? To tweak some graphics settings perhaps?

RE: Unneeded lines visible in modeling and drafting

You could try going into...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Faceting

and changing the 'Resolution' setting in the 'Shaded Views' section of the dialog to 'Extra Fine' or 'Ultra Fine'. But please note that this will increase display times and slow any 3D display manipulations such as panning, zooming, rotating, etc.

As for when you're in Drafting, you could try editing the view 'Style' and changing the tolerance in the 'General' tab but again, this could adversely impact performance of display update. And in the 'Hidden Line' tab on the View Style dialog you might try toggling on either the 'Simplify' or 'Hide' option in the 'Small Features' section of the dialog.

Finally got roound to testing this.

It worked perfectly for the drawing.
I did not for the 3D model though.
