NX Assembly - Steering Column Position Representation Help
NX Assembly - Steering Column Position Representation Help
(OP)
Hi,
I've got a steering column assembly that is organized as follows. Fixed Components > Rotating Components > Translating Components. There are 9 positions I wish to represent. Full up, nominal, full down for the rotating components. Full rearward, nominal, and full forward for the sliding components.
Is this something arrangements would work well for? If not, what's the best way to manage all the data?
This isn't important but this is what I've already attempted. I've set it up with 2 interpart expressions (one for the rotation and one for the translation) which works great for me but the customer couldn't comprehend using expressions. Then, I set it up so all positions were represented and used reference sets to control what was shown. I don't like having so many reference sets and I can't pass file checker.
Thanks,
Scott

RE: NX Assembly - Steering Column Position Representation Help
Just wanted to make sure that was the best way before I taught myself that operator. I do have a question and this may explain why I used interpart expressions. The translating component and it's constraint live in the rotating assembly. The rotating assembly lives in the fixed assembly. Will arrangements handle editing constraints in a sub assembly.
Sorry, I guess I have another question. I don't like the thought of navigating thru 9 arrangements. I really liked having two expressions. Do you have a suggestion to have only two editable fields (like a matrix?) while using something like arrangements? Maybe I can have 6 arrangements (R_Up, R_Down, R_Nominal and T_Front, T_Rear, T_Nominal) and I can control my position by selecting two arrangements.
I just need to spend some time getting to know how this works but please advise if you have some suggestions
Thanks again
