NX6 Assembly Sequence

NX6 Assembly Sequence

NX6 Assembly Sequence

(OP)
Hello,

I have been using NX6 in the workplace for approx. one year. Although not a requirement of the job, I would like to know a bit more about the animation side of NX. I have previously created animations in Inverntor and Pro-E.

From reading other posts, I have gathered that the new sequences, motions etc can be created in the assembly sequence environment.

However, the problem that I have is hopefully a fairly simple one to resolve.

I am using a fully constrained assembly (I am aware that the constraints can be turned 'off' in the sequence environment) and when brought into the sequence enviromnet, I can manipulate the components as I wish (when the constraints are off).

The question I have is is as follows:

What is the best was to start the sequence so that i can show each component being assembled in the order that the assembly would be constructed? To expand; I would like to start with one base component add other components one at a time.

At the moment I have a sequence that shows a particular component move from it's original position, that component then moves out to a determined size and then moves back into it's original position (2 motions).

I have tried to create an exploded arrangement and use that in the sequence environment. However, although the components seem to be well clear of each other in the assembly environment, the space condenses when I go into the sequence environment.

I hope this is clear enough and any help will be appreciated!

RE: NX6 Assembly Sequence

You need to first review the user documentation on Sequencing. Unfortunately this is a very procedurally intense task and as such is more complicated than what can be explained in a forum like this. You really should contact your local Siemens PLM or Siemens partner that provides your local support and see if there's someone who can help you run through an example.

Hello John,

Thanks for the response. I was half expecting that this may be the case!

There doesn't seem to be a lot of literature or working examples available (that I could see!) for NX. That is in comparison to Inventor or Pro-E.

With Inventor there was a fair amount of on-line material that I used.

As I mentioned previously, it's only for my personal experience and is not required for my day to day job.

I'll look into the advice that you have given.

Thanks again
