Can magnetic tapes be used as magnetic field concentrator

Can magnetic tapes be used as magnetic field concentrator

(OP)
Hi,

I wanted to know if like ferrites, magnetic tapes can also be used to concentrate magnetic fields. I have a sensing device over a wire and wanted to concentrate the magnetic field through it. Will it be useful to wind magnetic tape over it and concentrate the field over it.

Thanks,
Arvind Gupta.

RE: Can magnetic tapes be used as magnetic field concentrator

The ferrite material in magnetic tapes are tiny permanent magnets and not good flux concentrators. High permeability ferrites like those produced by FairRite, Magnetics, Philips, etc. are good flux concentrators. Low carbon steel is also good and relatively inexpensive.
