Details About API Standards

(OP)
Hi to all,

Actually am from Power background so am very familar with ASME then API,After coming to oil and gas iam daily listening this API

I wanted to know the neccessity of API Standards when ASME standards are there?

SO Anybody can guide me

camparing with ASME,ASTM AND ANSI ?How the Dimension and Materials change as per API?

Thanks in Advance....

RE: Details About API Standards

The API standards do not replace ASME, ASTM, or ANSI standards, so I am not sure what you are asking.

The API standards apply to mateials, products, and processes used in the Oil and Gas industry. There are a lot of them. They cover situations not covered by ASME, ASTM, or ANSI standards.

Why do we have local ordinances when we have state and federal laws?

RE: Details About API Standards

When qualifying a WPS/PQR in accordance with API 1104 can you grind on the root pass if it exceeds the 1/16" max allowed for root reinforcement?

RE: Details About API Standards

As for as my knowledge it is one of the material specification released by API.
all the trims are having equivalent ASTM material specifications.
If you are looking for valves the attached document may be useful to you
