Projecting a profile onto a plane
Projecting a profile onto a plane
(OP)
Dear Folks;
I want to import the profile of a pump impeller vane from autocad into solidworks 2001. The geometry must not be altered by any automatic relations within SW. The geometry is then placed onto the TOP plane in the SW model. Then it is projected onto a plane which is below the first plane and at an angle of 24 degrees to it.
Is this possible ?, could someone give me some pointers on how to go about it.
Kind Regards
Adrian

RE: Projecting a profile onto a plane
Now you could set up your planes in this file and continue or you can "copy", "paste" the sketch into an existing SolidWorks part file. Once you have the sketch where you want it you should be able to open a sketch on your plane @ 24 degrees and then convert entites onto into that sketch. I suppose another method would be to actually create a feature on the 24 degree plane and then project a splitline onto the surface using your AutoCad profile as the sketch for the split line.
