Human Resource Planning Spreadsheets

Human Resource Planning Spreadsheets

Human Resource Planning Spreadsheets

(OP)
I'm looking for a spreadsheet or inexpensive software that I can use to schedule projects and tasks from a human resource standpoint. For example, I have task A that will take 20 hours, I want Jim to work on it for 4 hours a week until complete, starting Monday. Task B will take 160 hours and I want Jim to work on it for 20 hours a week until complete, starting next Monday. Does anyone use of know of something like this. Something like a Gantt chart of this nature would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Human Resource Planning Spreadsheets

You can make your own in just a few hours using "Xcel".
You can make it "Smart" so it will do all the math for you by person, by project, by day, by week, (what else do you need or want). It is truly very simple.
You can also modify it yourself as your needs change, you do bot need to go back to any third party supplier.

What you describe is exactly what MS Project does, and does well.
There are better programs, but they cost way more.
There are cheaper programs, but they don't really work.

You can sort of do it with Excel, but it's a lot more work for you, and that gets worse faster as the number of people goes up.

Get a trial version of Project, and beat on it for a while.

Same stuff construction management types use.

MS Project can be expensive. Primavera can be even more expensive.

If wanting something cheaper but not necessarily as high tech, could try the open source LibrePlan.

RE: Human Resource Planning Spreadsheets

MS Project, less than $400. I hate recommending MS products, but for $400 you can quickly jump into the meat of the work and be done with it.
