Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

(OP)
Hi, I use NX6.0.5.3 and TC 8.3.2.3
I have an assembly and I get an error when I try to clone it. The part is in TC but I don't think that is the reason.
When I open the assembly and do info/part/loaded parts. I see that there are parts that do not load. These parts do not show up in part navigator. Could this cause a cloning error? I do not want to load these parts as it may update and change my model. How do I get rid of these "phantom" references to the "missing" parts

RE: Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

I have a feeling that the parts that did not load may be part of a WAVE link or body promotion.

RE: Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

Run part cleanup with the "Clean interpart links" and "Delete unused objects" options. This should get rid of the "phantom" references.

There are a broken links in the part and when I us info on the link features I see
Broken (Parent Geometry Is Missing)

But how do I fix this so I can clone?

RE: Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

Can you load the part that is missing ?

The part clean up did not work.
I ran it with all but the bottom 3 that say (Use Caution). Then I did a Force Save All. Closed all.
I say the views were checked out in TeamCenter so I CHECKED the TC views IN. Opened the past ran CLEAN UP and Force Save All. I ran info/part/loaded parts. I see that there are parts that do not load.

Closed all restared NX and cloned. The clone still failes.
I do not want to load these parts as it may update and change my model.

RE: Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

If you have broken links, the part cleanup won't work. You'll have to fix the links.

I've seen situations where the assembly "held" a reference to a part that was deleted out of it, which caused the clone operation to fail. The part cleanup trick worked in that case.

RE: Cloning Assembly with parts not loaded - Clone

It's a good idea to right all wrongs in an assembly before cloning it. Make sure that everything is up to date, that no links are missing, and everything is in a good working order. Otherwise you will clone problems. If you are able to clone at all.
