80au-20sn gold-tin solder fatigue

RE: 80au-20sn gold-tin solder fatigue

Contact the applications engineering group at one of the manufacturers producing exotic solder alloys. For example, Indium Corp used to have a really good technical group a few years ago (ok, might be more than a few wink ) and will probably help if they have the prospect of winning some business.

(OP)
Yes, this is usually a good idea.

I did contact Indium last fall and was told their metallurgist had no data on fatigue for this material. Perhaps I gave up too early.

Part of the problem might be that any life data (yet to see any) might be application specific.

Thanks.
