Rotary or Recip.?
Rotary or Recip.?
(OP)
A Reciprocating pump has been previously chosen for working in the following condition:
FLUID HANDLED Heavy Residue
PUMPING TEMPERATURE (oC)= 50
VISCOSITY @ P.T CP= 415.44
VAPOR PRESSURE @P.T BARA= 6.029×10^(-8)
DENSITY@P.T (KG/M3)= 975.85
OPERATING CONDITIONS
CAPACITY (M3/Hr)= 0.5
DISCHARGE PRESSURE (BARA)= 1.47
SUCTION PRESSURE (BARA)= 1
DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE (BAR)= 0.47
DIFFERENTIAL HEAD (M)= 5.79
But I want to propose a rotary pump for the similar condition.
am i making right decision?
Thanks for you help!

RE: Rotary or Recip.?
I have been told previously that about 300cP was the practical limit for a centifugal unit and this one is also very small (0.5 m3/hr??) Small gear pumps or piston pumps are ideal for this sort of duty.
My motto: Learn something new every day
Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
