Material Identification

Material Identification

(OP)
Hi
I have a material for doing PMI which i am not able to identify it. By visual it seems like SS, it is not magnetic also.
I used belec machine for doing PMI. I had set it in Fe base. it is showing S, Al, V, Ti W as overcut. And the reading was like C-0.330, Si-0.087, Mn-0.129, P-0.024, S-0.704, Cu-0.034, Al-9.127, Cr-2.38, Mo-0.933, Ni-0.054, V-10.849, Ti-14.331, Nb-2.061, Co-0.0, W-28.303, Fe-30.7

Some are showing undercut, so i tried in Cu base and it is showing the reading like Zn-0.424, Si-0.849, Mn-0.571, Al-13.940, Ni-0.227, Pb-2.305, Fe-6.055, Cu-2.41, Co-0.525, Cr-0.633, S-57.710, P-8.355

And i had taken teh hardness on it by equotip, I am getting around 270-280 HB.

Can you suggest me which material it can be.

RE: Material Identification

Here is a tip - send a sample of the material to a metallurgical lab for a complete chemical analysis. PMI in the wrong hands could result in serious errors in typing material.

I am using this machine for last 1-1/2 years regularly on different items( pumps, valves, Bops) and i never came across such a result before, thats y i thought of putting this in eng-tips.
