Tank designed to British Standards from the 60s

Tank designed to British Standards from the 60s

(OP)
Hi,

I am looking at a storage tank orginally designed in the 1960s to BS2654. I have BS2654, but I am struggling to find the specifications of the steel used. On the drawings plate to BS13 or BS15 is called for. I am chasing the yield strength of the plate to check what the orginal design stres limit was (2/3 yield or 260N/mm2 whichever is less). Can anyone shed some light upon the properties of these steels, or point me in right direction at least?

Thanks.

Your best bet may be to send a sample of the material to a testing lab and get chemical and mechanical analysis. Chemical / mechanical to possibly identify the material, mechanical to establish safe liquid levels, appropriate low operating temperature etc.
