prequalified WPS

prequalified WPS

prequalified WPS

(OP)
Hi
There are some ambiguity about below sentence:
Welding procedures shall be prepared and tested in accordance with AWS D1.1. Use of pre-qualified procedures will be acceptable, provided that certified test results showing conformance to specification requirements are submitted to and approved by COMPANY.
I have a quastion:
Is the meaning of prequalified WPS that we not shall provid PQR? if answer is No what is the meaning of prequalified?

Best regard

RE: prequalified WPS

Pre-qualification of weld procedures is described in AWS D1.1. I would recommend you obtain clarification of the above statement from the client on their expectation of using AWS D1.1 pre-qualified welding procedures. This is the best approach to address any ambiguity.

RE: prequalified WPS

Please note that I often see prequalified WPS's and SWPS's per B2.1 often intermixed in contract language. It's conceivable that the company is permitting the use of an SWPS if you've provided a demonstration record.

Metengr is correct here though, only the author of the spec can clarify the meaning of that statement.
