ATEX Certificated Pump

ATEX Certificated Pump

ATEX Certificated Pump

(OP)
Hello everybody,

I have a question regarding the ATEX Certification of pump with the following characteristic:

Pump type: Centrifugal Pump
Pumped Liquid: Cooling Water
Pumped Liquid Temperature: +15 °C
Mechanical Seal Type: Single Mechanical Seal
Electrical Area Classification: Zone 2, Group IIA, Class T1

Based on the above, I would like to know if the ATEX certificate is only required for the electric motor and the coupling or if the ATEX certificate is also necessary for the pump.

Thanks in advance.

RE: ATEX Certificated Pump

ATEX covers the motor as well as the pump, the coupling and most of the accessories (if there are any). If it's for Europe, you'll need ATEX certification for the cpl. unit - no exception. If it is for a country outside Europe, you'll have to ask the client. Pretty often they refer only to the electrical equipment.
