TPI(Third Party Inspector) want additional day

(OP)
Hi All,
Pressure vessels manufacturing, TPI was agreed for two day visit and perform inspection job. contract was signed, after three weeks now TPI is asking one additional day to cover his job.
Can any one advice on this issue should i permit him or tell him to perform his duty as we agreed for inspection plan agreement.
Thanks

RE: TPI(Third Party Inspector) want additional day

Go back and ask why the TPI needs an additional day? There could be several legitimate reasons. You have to determine on a case-by-case basis. Also, see if there is an additional cost involved. If there is no additional cost to you, it boils down to schedule risk.

Hi,
If Cost is the issue then how to negotiate and move forward so work will not be delayed.
Thanks

RE: TPI(Third Party Inspector) want additional day

If cost is an issue for the added day, you have a contract which was signed. My point is find out the reason for the delay. There should be no additional cost, because of the signed agreement.

RE: TPI(Third Party Inspector) want additional day

Was this a fixed cost contract or was this an estimate for budgetary purposes?

Many clients need a price for the purpose of generating a purchase order. It is not unusual to encounter unforeseen situation that require additional time to complete the work.

Would it have better or the contractor to cut the work short and possibly incomplete?

Best regards - Al

Getaw,
This is fixed contract,I mean this contract is already awarded and after three of job execution he requested for more time.
