Problems measuring intersection value

Problems measuring intersection value

Problems measuring intersection value

(OP)
Hello,

I work with Catia V5.19 and have some problems measuring the value of the intersection between two parts.

As a test I applied an offsetvalue between the parts to -5 mm. And when I used the clashtool to show "contact+clash" and "between two selections" the clash was mesured to 4,62. An incorrect value.
Then I tried some other offsets and got different values each time, but non of them was equal with my offset value. And if the offset value was very small, for example -0,3 the analys said it was no clash, it was contact.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Are there any settings in tools-options that effect how the program is measuring the distance?

Thanks in advance

With best regards

RE: Problems measuring intersection value

The way it was explained to me: the clash value is not the amount of interference - it's the distance the parts have to be moved to eliminate the clash.

For example, if you have a 1" bolt in a .750" hole, the clash value is how deep the bolt is into the hole.
