ASME VIII-1 Code case2626

ASME VIII-1 Code case2626

ASME VIII-1 Code case2626

(OP)
Code case 2626 (in short) states that the calculation of the required by thickness UG-16(b)(5(d) (which referes to UG-27 calculation method) may be waived provided that :
the minimum thickness shall not be less than calculated per UG-27?
Looks like i am in a loop here.
Can anyone clarify?

RE: ASME VIII-1 Code case2626

This code case has been annulled, and has been incorporated into the 2011 Edition/Addendum of Section VIII, Div 1. I reviewed the requirements and to me they are clear - in UG-16 (b) Minimum Thickness of Pressure Retaining Components shall be 1/16" exceptions are... (5) the minimum thickness does not apply to the tubes in air cooled and cooling tower heat exchangers if the following provisions are met....

(d) the minimum thickness used shall not be less than that calculated by the formulas given in UG-27 or 1-1 and in no case less than 0.022".

metengr , Thanks for your reaction.
The requirements are claer , but I do not see the difference between the text in the Code and the text in the Code case.
In the latest index of Code Cases suppl. 10 based on last ASME commity meeting of May 2012, CC2626 is still valid. Where did you find that it is annuled?

RE: ASME VIII-1 Code case2626

ijzer;
I am a current member of BPV I standards committee and have the ability to view on-going items, past items and code cases for all ASME code book sections. I looked up this code case, and the latest action was that it was annulled because it was incorporated in Section VIII, Div 1. I have a copy of the 2011 Edition/Addendum and the requirements have been incorporated related to this CC.

See this excerpt;
Ballot Level: Board Procedural
Final Record Status: Approved
Date Opened: 12/26/12
Date Closed: 01/10/13
Record Status Date: 01/10/2013
Description:
BPTCS Procedural Review of Records from BPV VIII Standards Committee Ballots 12-2671, 12-2672, 12-2674 and 12-2679 for Publication in the 2013 Edition to the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code or the next BPV Case Supplement.

The item (10-357) dealing with annulment of this code case was under ballot 12-2671.

Quote:

2011 Edition/Addendum and the requirements have been incorporated related to this CC.
This should have been 2013 draft changes and not 2011 Edition.
