Thread BMP image

Morning,

Does anyone know if NX can add a BMP image wrap around to threads so that they "look" like threads in modelling, but aren't detailed in drafting?

I was asked this question in a course last week, its not something I've ever used so just wondered if the functionality was there.

Thanks,

Carl

RE: Thread BMP image

Yes if you have the Studio visualize license, else no.
You had the question since it's something that "other cadsystems" do on demos, it doesn't add any value but it looks nice. smile
( Edit: It does add value if you produce images.)
- Same as "cylindical threads", - the thread profile cut by a revolve operation and without pitch. All it does is make the graphics heavy. ( But less heavy than if it would have had pitch.)

Tomas

Hi Carl,
I will just reiterate what Tomas stated.Studio license will help you getting the desired result. You can probably use DECAL or you can create your own visulaization material and use it.
Best Regards

Hi guys thanks for the replies, sorry for the delay I'm out again.

Tomas you're right, it was a question based on "other cad systems".
I never had any problem finding threaded holes in modelling (with symbolic thread) in previous versions of NX.

However, I haven't had a "real job" since we upgraded to NX7.5.
So when the question was asked, I did notice that the dashed indicator line does appear covered by the hole chamfer.
That is unless you switch to wireframe!

Thanks for the info Kapil, as far as I know we only have a few studio visualise licenses (at most).
So it wouldn't really help our large user base, but I'm not entirely sure there's any real issue.

I'll have another look at it when I'm back in the office!

Thanks again, Carl
