RE: Rupture Disk Changing Criteria

Where I work, the default standard is replacement every 5 yrs. There are some few cases that are extended beyong 5 yrs, but not many. There are a number of problematic cases (pressure cycling, close proximity to burst pressure, past incidents of failures, etc) in which the replacements frequency is more frequent than every 5 yrs.

However, the best solution is to avoid using disks unless a re-closing device is unsuitable.

Don1980,
Putting RD on pressure vessels along with two psv,s is making sense.in my company we have two psv,s and one RD in parallel and to me not making sense.
Thanks

RE: Rupture Disk Changing Criteria

5 years is a standard in lots of places. Even if the BD has not been subjected to a lot of varying pressure or temperatures. They do experience fatigue.
