Have any of you taken the patent bar exam?

Have any of you taken the patent bar exam?

Have any of you taken the patent bar exam?

(OP)
I'm not sure this is the correct forum for this question, although I do think it is an expansion the engineering profession could undergo in the upcoming years.

Have any of you sat for the patent bar exam? Has it enhanced your value to your employer or helped you land a new job?

How did you study to pass the patent bar exam? I assume that law school trains the patent lawyers for the exam, but how do those of us without law degrees study? I see there are books/videos we can buy but is that the most efficient way to study?

Any insights are much appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Have any of you taken the patent bar exam?

My dad took the patent bar and passed on the first go. He was a Ph.D. chemist with no law school education.

He was self-employed, so I can't say it helped his standing with his employer (though maybe it helped with his investors).

Did he draft his own patents? Where did he learn how to draft claims, etc.? From what I can tell, simply studying for the patent bar exam does not train you to actually draft applications, work with clients, and the other things you need to do.

If he didn't go to law school, how did he learn those things?
