PE stamp required for Piping Isometrics?

PE stamp required for Piping Isometrics?

PE stamp required for Piping Isometrics?

(OP)
So the firm I work at currently has a PE stamp on all of our piping Isometrics. Is this required by code? My understanding was that most companies just stamp the stress analysis calculations/report and do not stamp the actual ISOs.

RE: PE stamp required for Piping Isometrics?

In my opinion.
There are as many answers to this question as there are leaves on a tree.

"So the firm I work at currently has a PE stamp on all of our piping Isometrics."
Have you asked why? Does your Company design Nuclear Power Plants?

"Is this required by code?"
It is not required by ASME B31.1 or B31.3 unless the Client specifically makes it a requirement for the project.

"My understanding was that most companies just stamp the stress analysis calculations/report and do not stamp the actual ISOs."
"stamp the stress analysis calculations/report"
"Stamp" is a very specific statement. I am used to having the Pipe Stress Engineer Sign and Date the final Stress Sketch & Calculations then the Isometric on Issue.

At another Company I saw where ALL Isometrics on a project were Signed and Stamped by the Pipe Stress Engineer (PE) including the Domestic water lines.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

RE: PE stamp required for Piping Isometrics?

Pennpiper is, as alway, correct....

Sadly, any client can require a PE stamp on virtually any project documents....

Nodding, bobble-head MBAs and Project managers will always agree with the client....

There is no ASME piping code requirement for PE stamps on any kind of piping drawing.

I am so glad that I am of Social Security age.....
