Sol 600 Solving Speed on 64-Bit Windows 7

(OP)
Dear All,

I wanted to find out if the speed my computer is working correctly for Sol 600 non linear solves. Right now i utilize a machine:

Windows 7 64bit
16 Gigs DDR
Intel Core I5 CPU 650@3.2Hz

I am running a TET10 model with 200K nodes with non linear aluminum (A356) material and basic loads. I load the model up over 1sec and unload it down for 1sec. My results are correct with stresses around 250 MPA and low strains under 3%.

However, each job is taking about 120-150 minutes depending on the number of cut backs. Ddes this solution time sound reasonable for this kind of model running on a 64 bit machine? I thought it would be faster.

I am curious about solve times for a 200K node model running on other machines. Any thoughts, maybe a setting, parameter or configuration I am missing?

Thanks ahead of time.

I won't be able to really help you, but not that one of the most important specs for calculation speed is your graphics card. So you should probably mention that one as well.
