Unwrapping an L-shaped bracket
Unwrapping an L-shaped bracket
(OP)
Ok guys, I'm new to NX8 (I used Autodesk in college) and I'm having a little trouble assimilating to this new program. I have an L-shaped bracket that I was trying to use unwrap to unfold and make flat. I figured that "unwrap" would be the best way to go about it but everytime I try I get this message ->"wrap face must be a cone or cylinder." Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon

Do you have the Sheet Metal license?

To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?

If you go to the NX Start button, will it let you switch to the sheet metal module?

Note however that 'Aerospace Sheet Metal', which despite having most of the same features as NX Sheet Metal, does require an additional license due to also having more advanced, aerospace specific, functionality including unforming tools better suited to the complex shapes which you're able to realize using this module.
That being said, for something like a typical 'L-shaped' bracket, NX Sheet Metal should be all that you'll need.

Exactly where did you acquire your version of NX?

I'm not sure exactly where it comes from, our IT department handles that sort of thing. I'm pretty sure they either deal directly with Siemens or though or local Siemens rep based out of Orlando.
