why in program ask to choos bending thickness and membrane thickness although ican choose membrane or plate from type??

RE: bending thickness and membrane thickness

shells incorporate both functions of membrane and plate elements. So you can specify a relevant thickness for each function of the shells.

can you give me example that i can change shell thickness for bending and membrane .....

RE: bending thickness and membrane thickness

I never have but I am sure there is an application out there where it may be useful to input different values.

RE: bending thickness and membrane thickness

If you zero the f11, f22 and f12 values, the shell element is turned into a plate.
On the other hand, if you set m11=m22=m12=0, then it is turned into a membrane element.

In case of slabs, I would suggest you to use smaller than 1 values for m11,m22 and m12, so that the slab will not bend and the beams will carry a lerger load.
