Tapped hole pattern bug?

Tapped hole pattern bug?

Tapped hole pattern bug?

(OP)
Has anyone experienced the following problem?

I created a tapped hole and then generated a linear pattern with it. I then added a fillet to the egde I selected as one of my pattern directions. Now the holes go the direction I want and the cosmetic thread goes the opposite direction (off the part - floating in space). In my assembly file the screws follow the pattern of the cosmetic threads.

The only solution I have now is to eliminate the fillet. Any other ideas???

RE: Tapped hole pattern bug?

I have never seen this before. Did you try repositioning the chamfer before the tapped hole in your feature manager and then redefining the direction in your linear pattern?

Thanks.

I moved the fillet feature in front of the original hole and the hole pattern and selected edges that are not affected by the fillet and it worked.

RE: Tapped hole pattern bug?

Something else you may want to try.  I try to use the dimension I put up to locate the first hole instead of an edge.  This way the pattern is not dependent on a feature that is subject to change.

RE: Tapped hole pattern bug?

I have often created a center line within the same sketch of the hole.  I then show the sketch after the hole is extruded.  Now when create my linear pattern I can select that center line for the direction.  This works great for doing angled patterns.

RE: Tapped hole pattern bug?

If you put a dimension on the angled line, then select the hole you want to pattern before selecting the pattern icon, the dimension will show and you can select it instead of showing the sketch then hiding it after you make the pattern.  I found this to be faster.
