Creating Independent Section Views

Creating Independent Section Views

Creating Independent Section Views

(OP)
Is there a way to create a section view without a dependent parent?

RE: Creating Independent Section Views

... in PRO E (apologize in advance for the comparison :), I would create a x-section view in the model, then create a view in the drawing that refers to the created x-section from the model.

RE: Creating Independent Section Views

So do you just want to have a single view drawing . . . just the section view that you mention ?

RE: Creating Independent Section Views

Do you have the PMI license?

Jerry1423,

In short, yes.

Though, I do have other views in my sheet. None of which could be treated as a parent.

But, for sake of discussion, let's assume it is a single view drawing that shows as a x-section.

SDETERS,

Let me check with admin to see what type of license we are using. I do know that our license "seats" are provided through our network.

RE: Creating Independent Section Views

You really can't do it without a parent.
What I do is move the parent outside of the drawing border, after the section view is created, so it doesn't show up.
Then in View Style you can toggle the things off that you may not want: the view name under the general tab, and the section (cutting plane) line under the section tab.
Sorry, but I think that's the best you can do right now.

Right on, Jerry. That'll work.

RE: Creating Independent Section Views

I Was going to suggest create a section view using the PMI tool then use that view to create your base view in your Drawing. But we also do what Jerry mentioned also.
