Bolted Connection

Bolted Connection

Bolted Connection

(OP)
I am fairly new to Abaqus.

I have created a steel beam to column extended end plate connection with 8 bolts in 3D solid. The connection is under cyclic loading with the a displacement been applied at the beam tip. The interaction have been defined:

Column and end plate, bolt head and column end plate : Normal behaviour: Hard Contact, default, Tangential: penalty friction 0.2.

Bolt shank:Tangential, Frictionless.

The connection loads correctly, I get the right moment vs rotation curve but in the unloading phase the connection requires a high force to return it to 0.

Could anybody advise how I could solve this?

Thanks in advance
