Hi,
Pipe Class and the data sheet for a ball valve calls for A105 Body material. Project department has procured A350 Lf2 material Ball valve and asking engineering to give some justification to show to client that it is superior and hence acceptable for the servie (oil line at amb. temperature) service and that guy happens to be me to give this technical justification.
Could anyone help me in this regard.

Both the materials are listed as "Group 1.1" in ASME B16.5. Could this be stated as one of the proof for its interchageability for a particular service? Their pressure rating also same for a particular temperature in the standard.
And I have brought both the ASTM specifications to the table and compared them. Tensile and Yield strength are same for both. A350 LF2 infact, gives a higher range of Tensile Strength.
As for chemical composition is concerned, Carbon, Manganese, Silicon percentages vary to a very marginal amount (don't know if that is a concern too).
Hoping that this would 'quench' the client :)

They are not interchangeable for all services.
