Testing as per API 598 instead of BSEN 12266

Testing as per API 598 instead of BSEN 12266

Testing as per API 598 instead of BSEN 12266

(OP)
Hi
We are purchasing Check valve from Vendor and he is offering API 598 as a testing standard instead of BS EN 12266 which is a client requirement.
I have gone through BS EN 12266 in that basically standard mentioned some mandatory test which are mentioned below,
Shell Strength test
Shell tightness test
Seat tightness test
Back seat test (as supplementary)
Can anyone suggest whether I can go for API 598 instead of BS EN 12266? What is a difference between the requirements?

RE: Testing as per API 598 instead of BSEN 12266

No tests from different origins (US versus EN (European))) are exactly equal.

If one test can be used instead of another has also nothing to do with how equal one test is to another, but if the end user will accept the one for the other. If only EN is mentioned in the inquiry it is highly unlikely that any other will be accepted. You have to ask the end-user.

Thanks geehard for prompt reply..
But I heard API 598 are having more stringent requirement than BS EN std., If it is that way then we can qualify...

This does not matter, as it is depending on endusers general technical regulations (all shall be EN (???)) as well as juridical purchasing policy (a competitor might complain that it was not adviced that you could optionally also offer with an other standard). You will still have to ask purchaser/end user if this standard can be accepted. Only they can decide.
