What is the standard with allowable stress for heat exchanger's nozzles?.
Fluid is Water or other with Temperature Range: 68-194 °F.
I have only API 661 which does not apply to this case.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Standard with allowable stress for heat exchanger's nozzles?.

To what Code is your heat exchanger designed to (I mean the pressure design)?

Dear TGS4,
The Code is ASME VIII Div 1 and the Pressure design is 8 bar.

RE: Standard with allowable stress for heat exchanger's nozzles?.

allowable stress for a nozzle is not differ from the other under pressure parts of PV. I think you mean calculating allowable nozzle "LOAD" for the nozzle. WRC 107 will help you to judge about allowable nozzle loads.

Since you state that API 661 does not apply, I guess it's a shell and tube exchanger.

If it's an existing design, the allowable loads should be quoted on the design drawings. If not you might approach the manufacturer.

If it's a new design and you have no other source of allowable loads, I recommend agreeing Norsok values with the manufacturer.
