Plastic selection

Plastic selection

Plastic selection

(OP)
What would be my best choice to select a plastic material matching the following requirements, please:

• Operation temperature (continuous): –65°C to +125°C.

• Specific gravity: 1.6 or less.

• Water absorption, 24 hours, %: less, than 0.09.

• Friction coefficient on steel, static: 0.15 or less.

• Wear resistance: 1000,000 cycles test.

• Major colors (black, white, green, red, yellow, orange, blue) availability.

Thank you.

RE: Plastic selection

If indoors is it away from solvents?
If outdoors then doesn't it need UV resistance?

RE: Plastic selection

(OP)
Cloa,

1. No contact with solvents.
2. UV resistance not needed (indoor, low light).

Thank you.

RE: Plastic selection

Just the tough temperature limit, assuming you want decent mechanical properties at the low temperatures, limits you to Polyimides, PFA, UHMWPE and PTFE and PCTFE of which UHMWPE is probably best if the high temperature is only short term otherwise PTFE is OK-

Thank you for this input.
I assume colorants can be added to all of them.
Also too: can I glue 2 parts of the same material together? I know for PTFE I can, if I etch the surfaces.

RE: Plastic selection

Just search for yourself- plenty of information.
