Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

(OP)
Have you ever specified or installed a low profile explosion proof receptacle.

I thought such a thing was available per this: http://www.hubbellcatalog.com/wiring...s/Page-I11....

But had a case of not reading the print saying "now discontinued"

Anyone know of a similar product.

We need an explosion proof receptacle, just not regular large and hunky ones.

Thanks for your assistance.

RE: Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

Can you give us dimensions you need? "Low profile" has many meanings.

The link to the Hubbel device is dead now...

Best to you,

RE: Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

I think you may be out of luck looking for 4 x 4 box fit. I personally would be hesitant to plug into a flush explosion proof receptacle that is hidden behind a plain-looking device plate. The label is on the device plate, I can't see what the receptacle might be.

The Hubbell low-profile one in your attachment probably does not comply with the current UL / FM / CSA standards, thus discontinued.

1) Check Russellstoll if you haven't already.

2) Contact Akron Electric, see if they can custom-make you something that you can recess into your wall or else refer you somewhere. They're mighty good folks.

Good luck!

RE: Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

What do you mean by 'explosion proof'? What classification/division are you talking about?

The 4x4 box fit requirement makes me wonder. There aren't a lot of classification/divisions where a 4x4 box would be approved. Never mind a receptacle.

RE: Can you help locate a low profile explosion proof receptacle

Russelstoll is who I was thinking of too. You need to define your hazloc specs better, then amps and volts.

Starts on page 163 (165 of the PDF) on this.

Thanks again all for your input.

The application is a class 1 division 2 space. The space has ethanol in it.

I did not check Russellstoll before. There offerings are similar to ones I have seen before. That is my last resort.

Unfortunately this is turning out to be a learning experience in being more careful with specifying products.

Someone referred me to the product here:http://www.rstahl.com/fileadmin/Dateien/tgus/Docum...

I am thinking of trying the product on page D6.
