Could any one please define the terns:

SIDE BEND
SAG BEND
OVER BEND
SHOCK BEND...

RE: Definition of SAG, SIDE, OVER Bend

Mnthiraviam,

There is a well known slogan in the UK which is "It does exactly what it says on the tin". Hence,

Side bend is a bend to the side in the horizontal plane, usually side bend left or right when you're going positive in chainage, sometime abbreviated to SBL & SBR

Sag bend is a sag in the pipeline in the vertical plane e.g. at the bottom of a ditch

Over bend is a bend at a high point "over" the top of something, e.g. a hill in the vertical plane

Shock bend I've never heard of,

You will also hear hot bend, fire bend, induction bend, factory bend. These are all names for pipes bent at high temperature in a factory, usually to tight radius of 5D or 3D.

Cold bend, field bend, are bends made normally along the pipeline route by special pipe bending machines, normally to much more gentle radius of 40D.

It is a little alarming that you are going to be an inspector and are not familiar with very basic pipeline industry terms though. You should perhaps think about asking for a suitable training course so that you can undertake inspection with more knowledge about what it is you are inspecting....

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
