O-ring seal and firetube gasket material

(OP)
Hello all, I need some advice on O-rings and firetube gasket
O-RINGS: I use them on sight glasses inbetween gauge cocks and the nuts connecting the sight glasses on heater treaters for crude oil. sometimes they fail and leak, and part of it may be that the material is not compatible with hydrocarbon especially when sour (BUNA). I'm considering viton which is better but also not compatible with H2S. Any advice?
Also, is it possible that the geometry of the O rings can contribute to failure? because I have noticed that most of the failures occur with the O ring type that is cylindrical in shape (like a hollow cylinder), while very few failures have happened with the round/cirular type O rings with circular crossection.

FIRETUBE GASKETS. very similar to the problem above, this is in a higher temperature (sometimes more than 150 F). but in normal operation, the vessel operates at around 130F. BUNA is used currently, but I'm thinking of a better material that can withstand the fluid better.

in both cases, the fluids are crude oil, produced water, Natural gas, and sometimes sour (containing some H2S).

So far, I'm considering Viton, some some other variation of Viton that may do better in sour service...any advice?
Thank you.

As much as possible, do it right the first time...
