ASCE 7-05 Supplement No. 1

ASCE 7-05 Supplement No. 1

ASCE 7-05 Supplement No. 1

(OP)
I have been trying to find a copy of this supplement but have had no luck. The only thing I can find is that is located in the newer version of ASCE 7-05. I have the older version, so I don't really want to buy the whole new book. Is the supplement only available somewhere? I have a project with a nonbuilding structure similar to a building and it is currently designed as an OCBF system. I am already at an R value of 2.5 for the OCBF with height increase. This supplement contains information regarding an R value reduction for this type of structure. If I have to reduce R even more than it looks like I will need to change to an eccentrically braced frame for the higher R value.

RE: ASCE 7-05 Supplement No. 1

Some help but not a complete solution.
Go to the ASCE website, Go to the membership page/tab, Go to Techinical Groups and institutes, Select SEI for your choice, Select Publications and then you can download the newest Errata ( May 2007) and the newest Supplement (No. 2). You may have to contact the SEI to get a copy of Supplement No. 1.

Hope this helps.

Jim

RE: ASCE 7-05 Supplement No. 1

Supplement No. 1 is not a separate document, it was printed with ASCE 7-05 (look on the cover of your ASCE 7 in the top right, it will say "Including Supplement No. 1")

You are correct. My volume does include Supplement No. 1 I thought it was missing as I didn't see any mention of it in the book. I suppose that this supplement is already incorporated and R values are already reduced accordingly. Moving forward I have elected to go for a higher R value. I want to use (SCBF), but , there has to be a large opening at the base. Because of this, the bottom bay cannot have bracing, or the bracing cannot go to the work point at the base of the column making the bottom bay essentially and (EBF). Can a SCBF still be used in either of this situations? Most examples I have seen indicate that this would not be allowed.

Mines better than yours... it includes Supplement 1 AND ERRATA... Take that!
