Possible bug when using an image in a drawing and saving it as a *pdf?

Possible bug when using an image in a drawing and saving it as a *pdf?

(OP)
I recently came across what may be a bug in SW2012 Premiumx64 SP1.0

To show some detail that would be hard to draw I decided to add an image. Using Photoshop I created a transparent background and saved it as a *.png. Inserted in my drawing it displays as I expected.

However Save As > Adobe Portable Document format (*.pdf) the transparent background does not convert and shows the black background. Printing this drawing to my desktop printer works just fine. Printing to my CutePDF printer works just fine (but does not deal well with line weights so I try not use it).

In the end.. because I need to send this to someone that has a large format size printer I had to Save As > Adobe Photoshop files *.psd . Then open that in Photoshop (where it displays just fine)and save it as a *PDF

Anyone ever run across this? A known bug? Work around?

Thanks for your time

Thanks Gupta65
I do use CutePDF, however I find that it does not do line weights well. Since finding out that SW has a SaveAs PDF built in (thanks to this forum) I use it.
However.. the point of my post was to point out a possible bug when inserting a *png image. Under all circumstances SW displays and prints the image with the background transparent.... except when saving this file to the built in PDF format.
As I pointed out in my original post.. by jumping trough a bunch of hoops I was able to accomplish my task.. But.. I think there is bug in the PDF portion of the software. just saying.smile

Thanks Anna
I was hoping someone with more (SW) familiarity would check to see if in fact this is a bug or.. my incompetence. Then move it up to the next level.

That seems like more trouble than it is worth.. smile

It's a bug - yeah - but it doesn't happen every time - you've just got to get into the habit of checking every time. I got into the habit, a couple of years ago to reviewing my *.pdf as my final print, not what's on the screen, and not what SW prints, but the *.pdf. And yes, it's more trouble than it's worth however I thought this problem was resolved.

Thanks for confirming it.. There was a real possibility it was due to my lack of expertise smile
