Shell thickness plot

Shell thickness plot

Shell thickness plot

(OP)
Dear all,

I have a model consisting of areas and associated shell element types. The model has different shell thicknesses. For example; 3 areas with 10 mm shell section thickness and 5 areas with 20 mm shell section thickness.

I have set the material, element and section thickness for these areas but didnt mesh the model yet. I want to plot the areas with associated thicknesses indicated with different colours in this stage (before meshing). By this way I can easily check whether I have assigned the right thickness to the right area of the model and mesh it afterwards.

I couldnt catch a command like plot with shell section thickness. I will be pleased if anybody can share help.

RE: Shell thickness plot

You can plot by area number but you will need to mesh the areas to plot by section number i think (since this is an element attribute). Try this though. Go to plot controls in the menu and choose numbering. In there check areas and in the element pull down choose section number.
