Maintaining a certain DewPoint
Maintaining a certain DewPoint
(OP)
What does it take to achieve and maintain a Dew Point temp of 40F at ambient temp ranges of 70F to 110F? We have a 10X10X8 insulated room we are using for a trial, we would like to maintain a dew point range of 40-50F, plant air around this room ranges from 70-110F this is uncontrolled. Within the room what is needed? Humidifier, or combination with air-conditioner? Your help is appreciated. -THANKS

RE: Maintaining a certain DewPoint
internal loads have to be counted as well.
you need to determine whether is is seasonal demand or year-round. you need an engineer to make psychrometric calculations and size the equipment.

You mentioned a dew point temp of 40-50F, but what space temp range is acceptable? You probably need a desiccant-type dehumidification unit (e.g. Munters), but you may need to add humidity as well. FYI, a desiccant-type unit will most likely require a post-cooling coil as the air from the unit will be too hot.
