Inspection of Buried Piping
Inspection of Buried Piping
(OP)
Greeting All,
I would like to know if there is a new technology to inspect the underground buried pipings for corrosion. The problem is that we cannot excavate the line due to some issues. is there any NDT method/or any inspection tool. please help.

RE: Inspection of Buried Piping
If you can get access to the inside of piping to insert an inspection toll then three are a variety of tools able to navigate even 1.5D pipe, then use ultrasonic or magnetic flux leakage to do an assessment of the steel thickness. If you can isolate the buried bit electrically, you may be able to do a DCVG test on the coating to identify any coating defects.
If you want better help, the trick on these pages is to give a much info as you can, such as location or country, line size, fluid, age, depth, length, pressure, can you get access to inside with a tool, why can't you dig it up?, can you even get to repair it if you find a problem etc
