positioning Gear for FEA in Abaqus

(OP)
i'm a new beginner with Abaqus, and i have created two gears in inventor and exported them already to Abaqus. now comes the problem: i need to position the two gears to achieve a line contact "a normal two gears meshing". how can one position two gears instances ?

RE: positioning Gear for FEA in Abaqus

Personally I typically do anything CAD related in my CAD software since it is their forte. That being said in the assembly workbench there are a variety of tools such as translate and rotate that will get you close. Also, you can mate surfaces for line to line contact. Depending on the complexity and if there is an interference fit you can include remove over-closures in your contact definition. I hope this helps.
