Cable values

Cable values

Cable values

(OP)
Hello there,

In a model of a suspendend platform I'm using ROD elements to represent some steel cables.
In the property dialog I entered some values for the cable.

However, when running the NL Static Analysis the following message appears:
Skipping all Cable Values for Property 1.

Can someone explain why this message appears? And how to fix this problem?
The analysis does run, but I do have a feeling that the results are not entirely correct.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

RE: Cable values

seems odd for the message to mention "cable" ... "rod" would make more sense, no?

maybe some more info ...

1) what code ?

2) print the property card.

3) from the help manual, what does it say about cable values for a rod property ?

It does seem odd, but as far as I can tell "cable" is just a ROD element with restrictions.
The help manual doesn't really give much information on this matter.

The property card of the elements is attached.

Since the message already appears when Femap translates the Input into NX/Nastran, there is no code given.
Therefore I could not research this problem in the help manual.

RE: Cable values

ok, i see .. you ticked the "cable" box on the ROD property input.

i'd call the help desk ... some of the guys there (particularly David) are very helpful (some, unfortunately, typically, unhelpful).

of course the easy thing is just to model as rods ... and if they go into compression ... give the cables enough pre-tension to carry the load ...
but that's the lazy/dumba$$ thing i'd do ??

RE: Cable values

Dear Tom,
NX NASTRAN do not support CCABLE elements, hopefuly some day we will have CCABLE, CPIPE, etc.. long requested type of 1-D line elements, please fill an ER to SIEMENS GTAC, this is the way that SIEMENS hear the user needs, as more we are requesting this feature more chance of success to see this feature in next release!.
Best regards,
Blas.

Dear Blas,

Thanks for your reply.
So I can stop looking in help-files and so on...just fill in an ER and wait...

Best regards,
Tom
