Embedded reinforcment in ABAQUS/Standard

(OP)
Hi all,

I am modeling a reinforced concrete column using ABAQUS/Standard. I am using solid elements C3D8 for concrete and wire elements B31 for steel rebars and stirrups. I am using concrete damage plasticity material model for concrete and the analysis terminates once it reaches the tensile capacity.
I get a stress S22 in the rebars and the stirrups almost equal to infinity.
I keep getting the numerical singularity warning during the solution. Below, please find the warnings and the error.
I also have contact elements.

***WARNING: SOLVER PROBLEM. NUMERICAL SINGULARITY WHEN PROCESSING NODE
REBAR_CORE-1.17 D.O.F. 5 RATIO = 343.368E+12 .

***WARNING: THE PLASTICITY/CREEP/CONNECTOR FRICTION ALGORITHM DID NOT CONVERGE
AT 2 POINTS

***NOTE: MATERIAL CALCULATIONS FAILED TO CONVERGE OR WERE NOT ATTEMPTED AT ONE
OR MORE POINTS. CONVERGENCE IS JUDGED UNLIKELY.

***ERROR: TOO MANY ATTEMPTS MADE FOR THIS INCREMENT

I also get very small deflections that I hope are because the rebars are not effective and this is the reason the model quits when the concrete reaches the tensile capacity.

I would really appreciate any help in any of these problems.
Thanks
