Changing filler diameter and parameter

Changing filler diameter and parameter

Changing filler diameter and parameter

(OP)
Hi everybody,
I have the PQR following ASME IX with Process: GTAW, CVN at -40 Degree,Filler Metal: ER 316, Diameter: 2.4 mm, Range amper rate: 69 to 82 A, Votage: 9 to 13 V, Heat input: 0.98 to 2.5 J.
Now, i want to write one WPS for weld joint socket weld (fillet weld)with wall thickness is 1.5 mm, OD is 1/2 inch, not require CVN test, So i need to reduce range amper: 45 to 50 A and diameter filler is 1.6 mm.
Summary, can i use PQR above to write this wps.

RE: Changing filler diameter and parameter

Since you have the original PQR, open Section IX and review the WPS essential variables for the GTAW process in QW-256. If essential variables listed in QW-256 are not changed by writing a new WPS, you can use the new WPS under the supporting PQR.

RE: Changing filler diameter and parameter

Assuming that you don't have a copy of ASME IX, you can revise the existing WPS or write a new WPS using the existing supporting PQR. And if you don't have a copy, get one!
