Serialize Bodies in NX 6

Serialize Bodies in NX 6

(OP)
Hello,

I'm interested in automating, or reducing the time it takes to imprint or emboss serial codes on many duplicated solid bodies for reference. They must be imprinted or embossed on the solid because the bodies will be exported as different model formats.

My current method is to use the Text command to place text on a face, referenced off of an edge, and to enter the dimensions for positioning the text on the face (same for every body). Next, I select this Text feature and extrude it a certain distance in the Y-direction (selected from the vector drop-down), and Subtract from the parent body to make an impression.

If I have a group of these bodies and want each impression to be in the same position on each face, but be unique to each body, is it possible to speed up this process?

Thanks for any input

RE: Serialize Bodies in NX 6

John Baker posted on this forum a while ago an example on how to do the described but link the file name ( or was it an attribute in a spreadsheet ?) to the extruded text. I.e Save the part as ... and the new part will have the part name/ number as the extruded text.
-It's in here somewhere but i can't find what to search for...
Regards,
Tomas
